A Message from Senior Warden of the Vestry, Lauren Rigsby:

Following Rev. Holly Lyman Antolini's announcement of her retirement this year, the St. James's Vestry is working closely with the Rt. Rev. Bishop Alan Gates and the diocesan Director of Transition Ministry, Rev. Dr. Jean Baptiste Ntagengwa, on a smooth transition in clergy leadership. We are sad to say goodbye to Holly, and you are invited to celebrate and honor her faithful ministry as our rector at the St. James's Day celebration on July 29th with a contra dance and "pie social" to raise funds for the St. James's Sanctuary Team, which participates in the Cambridge Interfaith Sanctuary Coalition, supporting a young family as they seek asylum.

You can read our "Abbreviated Parish Profile," which was collaboratively written by the Vestry as a necessary first step in the search process, by clicking on the link above. Our Profile has been shared with Rev. Ntagengwa and Bishop Gates. We have since been secured a Business Consultant, and are currently in the process of producing a financial "Transition Review Report."

The next step is for Bishop Gates to send names of clergy candidates to the Vestry, for our review. God willing, we will call a new priest either as an "Interim" or a "Priest-in-Charge" by the end of the summer for a minimum of three years to see us through to the completion of Redevelopment.

(After about two years with an Interim Priest, we would name a Search Committee and start the process of searching for a new Rector. After about two years with a Priest-in-Charge, we would begin a process of discernment with the Priest-in-Charge to decide whether or not they are called to be our next Rector.)

The Vestry will continue to communicate any developments regarding our process to call new clergy leadership here, in the Sunday News, and in announcements during worship. Vestry contacts are in the back of every Sunday's bulletin; please feel welcome to contact any member of the Vestry with questions or thoughts about this process. We are very open to discussing this transition further with you.
