We'll be raking leaves, picking up trash, and bundling twigs and branches that have fallen over the winter. Bring rakes, if you have them; a few will be available for those who cannot bring their own. Many hands make light work; come one come all. Alan Aukeman
Interfaith Community Boston, Model Passover Seder *
Sunday,
April 13, 2008, 2-5 p.m.
St. James's Parish House, 1991 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge 02140
Free for members, Non-members: $30 families, $20 couples/individuals
Reservations
required: RSVP by April 6 by responding to interfaithcommunity.boston@gmailcom
A model seder will be held for children and families to learn about and
celebrate the meaning and the rituals of this ancient tradition- dipping greens
in salt water, recalling the ten plagues, inviting Elijah's return, and sharing
matzah, the "bread of affliction." Following the commandment "You
shall tell it to your children!" we will hear the founding story of
Judaism - the story of the birth of a people and an evolved understanding of
God. We look forward to a lively and enjoyable gathering of the Community for
this event.
Note: Interfaith Community Boston plans to hold family services and
celebrations for major holidays. Using authentic liturgy, we aim to make the
eternal meaning and ancient traditions of religious holidays accessible to all.
Our services are written to help individuals remain connected to their
traditions and share them with their families, while learning to understand
other faiths. They are intimate, participatory services, researched, written
and led by Interfaith Community members, with advice and participation from our
religious advisors. *This will be a
non-dinner event. Please bring an appetizer/snack to share. Babysitting
available. Contact: Kate Hornstein, Interfaith Community Boston,
30 Hubbard Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02140.

If you plan on singing, you must come to this rehearsal, so that we can be well prepared on May 4th. We will begin at 12:30. SOCIAL JUSTICE - Opportunities to Make a Difference Now!
Thanks to Aletha Cole, Karen Meridith and Mary Tusuubira for attending the GBIO delegates assembly Tuesday, April 8, and to all who supported them with their prayers! In an historic moment Temple Emanuel, the largest Conservative synagogue in New England, opened its doors to Christians and Muslims and enthusiastically agreed to work together on issues of common social concern such as youth, health and elder care. The state Director of Elder Affairs agreed to all of GBIO's demands for upgrading and publicizing the elder care hotline and website, 800 AGEINFO. Please talk with Aletha, Karen, Mary or Tom to find out more about the assembly, GBIO, the forum at St. James's next week and the upcoming meeting of 1200 delegates May 27 at Boston University.
Sunday, April 20, 12:30 : GBIO forum at St. James's with Fran Early, Organizer for
GBIO and member of Trinity Church. Bring your questions and comments!
