GARDEN CLEANUP DAY: Saturday, April 5, 9:00-12:00.

Join with others to do a bit of spring cleanup in the St. Sames's Garden. We'll be raking leaves, picking up trash, and bundling twigs and branches that have fallen over the winter. Bring rakes, if you have them; a few will be available for those who cannot bring their own. Many hands make light work; come one come all.

HANDEL'S UTRECHT JUBILATE There will be a short rehearsal in the Church following today's 10:30 worship service (and again on the 20th of April) for all those who would like to sing Handel's Utrecht Jubilate with the Choirs on May 4th, but can't make it to Wednesday evening rehearsals. If you plan on singing, you must come to these rehearsals, so that we can be well prepared on the 4th. We will begin at 12:30. All who can come on Wednesdays, plan on working from 7:30 to 8:30 on this piece. The next two weeks are crucial in our preparation, so make every effort to be on time. Thank you. Pat Michaels

THANK YOU

Hi all, I am now physically and emotionally ready to write you all and say THANK YOU, which really isn't enough, for all your thoughts, prayers, votives lit, and well wishes, individually and through being placed on church prayer lists, sent my way while I was in the hospital. After I returned home it took me a few days to go through all the e-mails, which I read through many, many tears. I was completely overwhelmed by all the love and concern that was shown me through this time. The day of the surgery and that night were the hardest times I've ever gone through, because of complications and a night in ICU, but you all helped me through it, as God's love was shown and demonstrated through you. SOCIAL JUSTICE - Opportunities to Make a Difference Now!

Speak the truth in love to power. Our Lord modeled that ministry for us and we have spent 40 days of preparation and a week celebrating God's astonishing response to exclusive power's crushing, but short-lived victory over love and truth. Your prayerful presence at the following events will greatly increase our shared power which excludes none and benefits all, especially youth, the elderly and those who need quality, affordable health insurance.

Tuesday, April 8, 7:00 - 9:30 pm.: Action Meeting with state Executive Secretary of

Elder Affairs. Ten or more St. James's parishioners needed to attend this meeting of 300 people to effect immediate change in state policy. Location: Temple Emanuel in Newton Center. Transportation: carpooling from St. James's.

Sunday, April 20, 12:30 : GBIO forum at St. James's with Fran Early, Organizer for

GBIO and member of Trinity Church.

Thursday, May 27, 7:00 - 9:30 pm : Action meeting with Governor, the Mayor of

Boston and other officials to agree on actions to address youth safety, health care

and elder care. Fifty parishioners needed to attend this meeting!

For more information or to sign up contact Tom Tufts in the Coffee Hour.

Education

Interfaith Community Boston, Model Passover Seder *
Sunday, April 13, 2008, 2-5 p.m.

St. James's Parish House, 1991 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge 02140
Free for members, Non-members: $30 families, $20 couples/individuals

Reservations required: RSVP by April 6 by responding to interfaithcommunity.boston@gmailcom
A model seder will be held for children and families to learn about and celebrate the meaning and the rituals of this ancient tradition- dipping greens in salt water, recalling the ten plagues, inviting Elijah's return, and sharing matzah, the "bread of affliction." Following the commandment "You shall tell it to your children!" we will hear the founding story of Judaism - the story of the birth of a people and an evolved understanding of God. We look forward to a lively and enjoyable gathering of the Community for this event.
Note: Interfaith Community Boston plans to hold family services and celebrations for major holidays. Using authentic liturgy, we aim to make the eternal meaning and ancient traditions of religious holidays accessible to all. Our services are written to help individuals remain connected to their traditions and share them with their families, while learning to understand other faiths. They are intimate, participatory services, researched, written and led by Interfaith Community members, with advice and participation from our religious advisors. *This will be a non-dinner event. Please bring an appetizer/snack to share. Babysitting available. Contact: Kate Hornstein, Interfaith Community Boston, 30 Hubbard Avenue, Cambridge, MA 02140, 617-492-5462, www.interfaithcommunity.org.
